Gariety Pruitt brings her extensive experience in and long-standing commitment to grassroots advocacy on issues affecting Nevadans to For Our Future Action Fund as the State Director for Nevada. Gariety is passionate about advocating for issues impacting people every single day because she gets to be a part of something bigger and greater than herself. Recently, she has organized ways that Nevadans can engage and make their voices heard on a variety of issues from prescription drug prices to workers’ rights and much more.
Over the past decade, she has worked in states like California, Idaho, New York, and Nevada. Most recently, Gariety served as the Political Director for the Nevada Conservation League & Education Fund, helping engage members on and advocate for conservation issues like public lands, which is a hot topic in Nevada and other Western states. During her tenure there, she also spearheaded advocacy work in support of the 50% Renewable Energy by 2030 (Nevadans for a Clean Energy Future) ballot measure in 2018.
She previously worked for the AFL-CIO as the State Campaign Director and Campaign Manager for Nevada and as the Data Coordinator for the Western region and worked against GOP-led recall efforts targeting women legislators. She also worked with the Nevada Assembly Democratic Caucus as its Member Services, Data & Field Director, and served as the Committee Manager for the Nevada Assembly Judiciary Committee during the 2013 Legislative Session.
Born and raised in Sun Valley, Idaho, Gariety graduated with a B.S. in Political Science from Santa Clara University. She also received a dual M.A. in Elections and Campaign Management; and Latin American and Latino Studies from Fordham University. In between her studies, Gariety spent more than three years serving as a Rural Health and Sanitation Sector Extensionist & Volunteer Coordinator with the Peace Corps in Asunción, Paraguay.
